YnyshirCrest.jpg

Ynyshir Albions was formed in 1992 and this season is the clubs 15th. The ''BUNS'' started out in the second division of the Rhondda League and quickly progressed to the premier division. Most of their home Rhondda League matches at the time were being played on Wattstown Park.

It is interesting to note that 7 local lads, some of whom had previously played Welsh League and South Wales Amateur League football founded the club. To begin with they had just one complete kit (which was sponsored by Porth Rugby Club), 2 footballs and a bucket.

After winning the Rhondda Premier League for the second occasion and then receiving permission to play their home games on Stanley Park, the South Wales Senior League beckoned for Ynyshir and they were soon elected to play in the second division. Once again we did not stay there long and soon gained promotion to the first division.

Despite being league champions in 2003 and runners up in 2004 the ''BUNS'' have twice failed in their appeal for Welsh League status and sadly the club was relegated back to division 2 during the 2005/2006 campaign.

However with the correct facilities now in place, we hope the club can rebuild and achieve our goal of bringing Welsh League football to Ynyshir.
